Line Tightness Testing
Volumetric tightness testing for pressurized, suction, and gravity-fed product lines.
Manufacturer-certified · Testing UST & AST systems since 1997 · Serving 13 states and expanding
Volumetric line tightness testing for pressurized product lines, suction lines, and gravity-feed lines of all lengths and diameters.
Testing Method
PTTI uses Estabrook equipment with inert gases. A calculated test pressure is applied and monitored volumetrically over the determined test time. Various isolation methods are used to achieve conclusive results.
- Equipment
- Estabrook line tightness tester; various isolation methods.
- Frequency
- Annually or triennially, based on state regulation.
- Deliverable
- An audit-ready line tightness record for every line tested, sent to you after the visit and formatted for your state compliance file. PTTI prepares the record; your operator files it with the state.
Common Findings
-
1
Inconclusive Testing
Adverse test conditions or mechanical component failure can prevent a conclusive volumetric reading. PTTI isolates and retests to achieve conclusive test results.
-
2
Ball Valve at the Submersible Turbine Pump (STP) Not Holding
A valve that does not seal can affect isolation and the test result.
-
3
Check Valve Not Holding
A check valve that does not seal can look like a failure. PTTI installs various isolation fittings to achieve conclusive results.
Line Tightness Testing, frequently asked.
What does "inconclusive testing" mean?
Unable to pass or fail a line due to adverse test conditions or mechanical failure of components. PTTI isolates and retests to achieve conclusive test results.
How often is line tightness testing required?
Annually or triennially, based on state regulation.
